Game settings backup
Your graphics, controls and layouts, safe from a reinstall.
Needs access In 2.0Available in 2.0. Install it from the Extensions tab.
Saves the settings files a game keeps in its Android/data folder: graphics, controls, sensitivity, layouts. After a reinstall, a reset or a bad change, put them back.
Highlights
Finds the right files
Settings files only (ini, cfg, json, xml, sav and the like, under 1 MB each). Caches and logs are left out.
A safety copy first
Every restore stops the game and saves its current state as an automatic backup first. The last three are kept, so a restore can be undone.
Take it with you
Export a backup out of the app through Android’s save dialog, and import it on another phone.
Private storage with root
Many games keep settings in private storage. With root, the backup reaches those too.
Set it up
- Set up privileged access once (wireless debugging, Shizuku or root).
- Install Game settings backup from the Extensions tab.
- Pick a game and tap Back up now.
- To restore, pick a backup and tap Restore. The game is stopped and its current state is backed up first.
Using it
Before a game update
Back up before a big update. If the update resets your controls, restore them. A game may not accept settings written by an older version: if it resets them again, the automatic backup takes you back.
What it needs
| Permission or access | Why |
|---|---|
| Privileged access | An app can’t read another app’s Android/data folder by itself. |
| Root (optional) | For settings kept in the game’s private storage. |
Limits
- Restoring writes the game’s own files back, so it only happens when you tap Restore.
- Some games don’t allow changed files, especially in ranked play. Check the rules of your game.
Questions
Can a restore break my game?
A restore only puts back files the backup took, and refuses anything that would land outside the game’s folder. If a game rejects them, restore the automatic backup made just before.
